From Novara the idea of a pilot project on how to obtain energy from agricultural sewage

by admin

The Piedmont Region meets the farmers and from Novara the idea starts to carry out a pilot project to help equip livestock farms with plants that allow starting from sewage, first of all the production of biogas for self-production of electrical and thermal energy, and secondly, biomethane to be used as a fuel for agricultural vehicles. All in full implementation of the concept of circular economy and in the direction of improving air quality: sewage no longer seen as a problem for atmospheric emissions but as a resource that, managed correctly, can lead to an improvement in terms of not only of environmental impact but also of economic impact. The first step of the process is the establishment of a working group that brings together around the same table officials and technicians of the Department of Environment and Agriculture, research centers and universities and exponents of the specific business sector. The meeting at the headquarters of Confagricoltura Novara and Vco, in the presence of the regional councilors for the environment, Matteo Marnati, and for agriculture, Marco Protopapa, during which other problems were also analyzed, beyond the measures for the quality of air, which affect the sector, from the well reconditioning plan to the ban on burning. “The idea – confirms the commissioner Marnati – is to start building a small operational group that can analyze all the possibilities to start with a pilot project that initially involves companies in the Novara area and then replicates it on a large scale with funds of future programming “. And if the project is fully inserted in the context of the concept of circular economy, the true pillar of the ecological transition, it is equally well inserted in that of air quality. “The problem is not to derogate or intervene like a leopard – adds Marnati – but to do something that solves the problems forever”. “To find a structural solution to these problems – declares the commissioner Protopapa – it will be necessary to seize the opportunities of the future Community Agricultural Policy that is being built in recent weeks in concert with the other Regions and with the Ministry of Agricultural Policies, without forgetting the Plan national recovery and resilience “.
