After the recognition of the strategic role of the supply chain contained in the report on Recovery Plan, approved by the Chamber of Deputies, the federation of the paper and cardboard industry is preparing to make a contribution to the economic recovery. «The plan presented by the supply chain – explains Girolamo Marchi, president of Federation of Paper and Graphics – provides for interventions that are close to two billion euros and concern the improvement of separate waste collection, technological innovation, the management of recycling waste and the decarbonisation of industrial processes ».
This was one of the topics discussed within PaperWeek during the webinar “Pnrr and the paper, printing and packaging supply chain”, organized by the Paper and Graphics Federation and by Comieco with the participation of Slc Cgil, Uilcom Ui and Fistel Cisl.

«The supply chain has always produced“ good ”employment in the area, contributing to the social sustainability that we want to continue to support in parallel with environmental and economic sustainability», commented Marchi.
For this reason, the companies in the paper and cardboard sector underline the urgency of adding a time factor to the ecological transition and recovery plans that allows them to adapt production processes and infrastructures to new technologies and new market needs. keeping intact the competitiveness on the markets and the employment levels.

According to the president of the federation, “compared to our European competitors, we are paying for a system with higher regulatory costs, in addition to the failure to implement European instruments such as CO2 offsets (which everyone has in Europe), while we bear the heavy increases in the Ets system that they have nothing to do with sustainable development ».
