Ftse Mib reaches new heights: Banco BPM queen of May, historic tops for Amplifon and Interpump

End of May with Piazza Affari which rises again, updating the annual tops. The Ftse Mib index, back from four consecutive weeks of increases, closes today’s session with + 0.46% at 25,170 points.

With the London square and Wall Street closed for holidays, today the new economic estimates of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) held the ground, which revised upwards the forecasts for the current year with a +4 , 5% for Italy under the pressure of the vaccination campaign. The world GDP will instead grow by 5.8% in 2021 and then slow down to + 4.4% in 2022. From the macro front, German inflation leaps beyond expectations (+ 2.5% yoy in May) which still ignites by more spotlight ahead of the eurozone figure coming tomorrow.

The best stock of the day was Atlantia (+ 2.84% to € 16.09). Today the shareholders’ meeting of Atlantia voted in favor of the sale of the entire stake held in Autostrade per l’Italia (Aspi) to the consortium made up of Cdp, Blackstone and Macquarie. The sale of the stake in Aspi was approved with the favorable vote of 1,129 shareholders equal to 86.86% of the share capital represented at the meeting.

Among the stocks in the main Piazza Affari basket, Interpump also performed well (+ 1.56% at € 46.76) on the new historic tops. New absolute tops also for Amplifon at € 38.95 (+ 0.93%).

Among the banks, Banco BPM’s + 0.76% to € 2.928 was worthy of note, which was the best stock in May with over + 24%.

On the other hand, Enel (-1.07%), worst performer of the day, and Leonardo (-0.84%) slide.

Outside the main basket, Cattolica stands out with + 15% to € 6.96 after Generali launched the takeover bid aimed at delisting, offering a consideration of € 6.75 per share.
