Germany: preliminary inflation at + 0.5% mom and + 5.3% yoy in December

In December, the consumer price index (preliminary reading) marked a + 0.5% on a monthly basis, above analysts’ expectations (+ 0.4%) and a marked increase from the final figure for November (-0, 2%). The CPI on an annual basis shows growth of 5.3%, substantially in line with the consensus (+ 5.1%) and the final figure for November (+ 5.2%).
