Gigafactory Stellantis in Termoli: “Turin and Piedmont betrayed”

by admin

Sbarra (Cisl): a sign of confidence for the South

“The announcement of Gigafactory Stellantis in Termoli is an important investment, a sign of confidence for our country and in particular for the South, which opens the way to the ecological transition, rewarding the responsible role of the union in relaunching the company”. The general secretary of the CISL, Luigi Sbarra, writes on twitter.

Giorgetti: we have worked for this

The Minister of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti is also satisfied: «The good and awaited news is the Gigafactory in Italy. As Mise we have worked to make this happen. Now the discussion on the industrial plan with the interested parties must continue ».

Bardi (Basilicata): we would have preferred Melfi but well both in the South

«We would have preferred Melfi, but the choice of Stellantis in any case rewards the South and this is still good news». This was stated in a note by the President of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi. «We must always remember that the Stellantis industrial plan – communicated to the Government last June 15 – places Melfi in a central position for the automotive multinational: from 2024 the new production platform for 4 electric models will be active.

Marsiaj: partial disappointment for Turin

“The announcement made today by the CEO Carlos Tavares that he has chosen, in agreement with the Italian government, Italy and Termoli as the third European site to install one of the future Gigafactories is excellent news for the country, even if a partial disappointment for Turin – said Giorgio Marsiaj, president of the Industrial Union of Turin – For some time I had hoped that the third Gigafactory would be located in Italy, hoping that the choice would fall on our city. This was not the case, but it must be considered that Termoli is a mechanical plant that produces traditional engines, which in a few years will suffer a big drop in production. The choice is therefore unexceptionable from an industrial and employment point of view, also considering that suppliers, obviously including those of our territory, will be able to have important advantages from having a domestic market. In addition – he stressed – Stellantis has announced its intention to accompany the energy transition of all Italian sites. Also, not all of Stellantis’ plan has been revealed yet. Therefore, it is not excluded that there will also be further opportunities for Mirafiori, where the doubling of the volumes of the 500 Bev was announced in recent days ».
