How to reinvent the transport of tomorrow: discovering the routes of the post-pandemic

by admin

«Alphabet of the Future» is back, the initiative promoted by La Stampa and the GNN Group newspapers to give voice to the challenges of innovation that will change our way of life. The goal is to tell the innovative force of the new technologies that are advancing on the territory and to focus on their multiple meanings and the concrete perspectives that they will offer to all of us. The journey of Alphabet of the Future, now in its third edition, begins its journey from Trieste, in the evocative setting of the Miramare Castle. The first of six meetings will be held in this crossroads of cultures.

The opening of the tour will be dedicated to the restart after the long months of the emergency. The title of the event, «Mobility and transport, the routes of the post-pandemic», evokes a path to be taken, a growth path to be outlined in order to imagine the future. The event will be an opportunity to talk about the local realities and the resources that enhance the territory but also the great national and international perspectives.

The program

The event will start at 5pm and will be streamed. Massimo Giannini, director of La Stampa, will speak with Roberto Cingolani, minister of ecological transition, and with Massimiliano Fedriga, governor of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and president of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces. Luca Ubaldeschi, director of Il Secolo XIX and editorial manager of the Alphabet of the Future, will hold the thread of the event and will talk to Teresa Fornaro, researcher at the National Institute of Astrophysics. It will then be the turn of the ICTEA Team, a group of researchers and science communicators of the University of Padua. With Omar Monestier, director of Il Piccolo, we will hear Zeno D’Agostino, president of the Alto Adriatico Port Authority, Antonio Maneschi, president of TO Delta Group, Philip Sweens, Ceo Hhla and president of Hhla Plt Italy, Antonio Paoletti, president of the Chamber of commerce Friuli Venezia Giulia. Roberta Giani, co-director of Il Piccolo, will talk with Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, president of NTV, and Diego D’Amelio, journalist of Il Piccolo will interview Francesca Nieddu, regional director for Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto Est of Intesa Sanpaolo.

How to leave

Ma what are the next mobility challenges? The pandemic has imposed a clear cut. The restart will not be easy but at the same time the new route will also represent a unique opportunity. Reflection must also be placed on sustainability and the risks for our planet. The theme is deeply felt and the world of transport is under the spotlight because it is one of the major “killers” of the atmosphere. For this reason, the challenge of the next few years will be to be able to set course towards a mobility that is increasingly sustainable. Also because according to the estimates in the ITF Transport Outlook 2021, the global volume of transport, worldwide, in 2050 will more than double compared to the levels of 2015, and without drastic changes, a real rebirth, it will not be possible to achieve the objectives of sustainability outlined by the Paris climate agreements. It is the bet on the future of an entire planet.
