TRICHIANA (BELLUNO) (ITALPRESS) – The workers and territorial trade unions Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl, Uiltec Uil of Trichiana where the Ideal Standard factory is located, demonstrated today in Cortina during the passage of the Giro d’Italia. Exasperated by the attitude of the Belgian multinational, the unions ask that the property enhance the production entrusted to the Italian workers who have skills and know-how and fear the real risk that Ideal Standard wants to close the Trichiana site to move production to countries such as Egypt and Turkey with low labor costs and very low workers’ rights. This is how today the Ideal Standard of Trichiana, which employs about 500 people and as many families from the Borgovalbelluna community, is under the fork of a restructuring and relocation of the production site. “The current management – affirm the 3 unions – denies having decided to move all the volumes of the Belluno site and, in meetings with trade unions and the Italian government, prevaricates. The CEO does not come to the meetings by sending his representatives of the company without proxies on the decisions to be taken. In the Group’s projects – the workers’ representatives continue – there also seems to be the sale of the Ceramica Dolomite brand, a historic Italian brand created in 1965 thanks to state funds allocated after the Vajont tragedy to support the economy of the Belluno area.
