There are many applications on the Android platform, but most of them are for smartphones, while other watches and tablets are relatively weak. In order to stimulate the ecological development of other types of devices, Google not only cooperated with Samsung to strengthen the development of Wear OS earlier, but also introduced a new Play Media Experience Program to attract developers to create more cross-platform applications using money as an incentive .

According to a report by Ars Technica, Google’s Play Media Experience Program is globally applicable, allowing all developers to pay only 15% of the “service fee”, which is in line with the first $1 million discount for small developers. . The condition for the discount is to develop cross-platform audio and video content, including devices that can be used on Android TV, tablet computers, Google Cast, folding screen devices, Wear OS and other devices. However, Google also requires these applications to be of a certain quality, so it is set to have at least 100,000 active downloads per month on Google Play, and you can enjoy a lower service fee if you don’t make it at random.

Unfortunately, according to Ars Technica, even Google’s own app has different support on different platforms, so it is difficult for them to get third-party developers to do it now. In fact, Microsoft has also implemented a similar approach when it promotes the Windows Phone application ecosystem, including heavily hiring popular developers on Android to join, but the results are obvious to all. But this time when I come to Google, because the background and user groups are also different, you can still look forward to it.
