In March, the funds pushed on the accelerator and brought deposits to 9 billion

by admin

Mutual funds with the turbo in March; with inflows of 7.5 billion, they brought the overall balance of the asset management industry to just under 9 billion (more than triple compared to February), while assets set a new record at 2.446 billion. Such a collection figure had not been seen since June 2017. But the most important thing to point out in the statistics released by Assogestioni is the appeal that equity products continue to exercise, still driven by the favorable climate that characterized the markets and whose setting seems to be further strengthened by the acceleration of vaccination plans and the conditions for returning to normalcy. The indispensable condition for restarting companies in all sectors – not only those favored by the economic situation – and therefore the economy at full speed. However, March was also positive for portfolio management which regained assets, thanks to those addressed to the retail public (over one billion), and closed the month with a positive balance of 1.2 billion. These latest results have led the Italian asset management industry to travel with collections of 23.5 billion since the beginning of the year; of these 15 come from collective management and 8.5 from portfolio management.

And so with a loot of around 3 billion, equities were the champions of collection and, even if the figure is lower than the 3.9 collected in February, the trend is confirmed for now. But last month bonds were also highlighted, returning to positive territory with a balance of 1.3 billion. The data is particularly interesting because it has amply offset the deficit of 237 million accused the previous month. A similar scenario also for money markets for which 1.4 billion euro entered the coffers (-1.5 billion in February). These figures show a substantial balance in the choices of investors because the collection data this time spread in a fairly balanced way on the main types, even if in the first quarter of 2021 it is the equities who hold the reins of the system. Finally, in terms of domiciliation, the figure for Italian-law funds (639 million) is in surplus, although still very far from that of foreign funds (6.8 billion).

The societies

Among the market players in March, Amundi led the ranking of the companies that collected the most with 2 billion, followed closely by Intesa Sanpaolo with a profit of 1.5 billion. The result of Poste (844 million), Jp Morgan (601 million) and Azimut (522 million) is more distant. For all the top companies it was the open funds that made the greatest contribution, while for Poste the attention was focused on institutional mandates. Among the ranks of the companies that instead closed their monthly financial statements with their accounts in the red are State Street Global Advisor (-226 million), Kairos Partners (-173 million) and Franklin Templeton (-162 million).
