In the United States, the number of job vacancies increased to 10.073 million in June, against expectations for a figure of 9.27 million. It is the first time that 10 million job vacancies have been surpassed. In April, it had been 9.286 million, for the first time above 9 million, after exceeding 8 million for the first time in March. The data was communicated by the Labor Department with the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (Jolts). The number of hires in June increased to 6.7 million (+697,000); the number of contracts terminated increased to 5.6 million. In the 12 months ending June, total hires were 72.1 million, contracts terminated 65.2 million, with a net gain of 6.9 million jobs.
