Industrial production is slowing down, on the recovery the ballast of raw materials

by admin

After the price and inflation alarm comes the bugbear of industrial production that in the third quarter of the year would have grown at a slower pace than in the first six months of 2021: + 1% against + 1.5% in January-March and at + 1.2% in April-June. In October, however, it grew by 0.2% after -0.1% in September and -0.2% in August.

It is when it emerges from the estimates of the Confindustria Study Center that in the usual “Rapid Survey”, he explains how the reasons for the slowdown between July and September are attributable to factors limiting production, such as the scarcity of some components and raw materials, to the greater use of inventories, the production slowdown of the main commercial partners and the greater degree of uncertainty.

The companies interviewed by the CsC noted a decline in industrial production of 0.1% in September compared to August, and an increase of 0.2% in October. However, activity levels in both months remained more than 1% higher than the average for the first eight months of the year. The seasonally adjusted volume orders, on the other hand, would have increased in September and October by 1.0% and 0.6% respectively on the previous month.
