Industry, Istat: turnover grows by 13.2% in October

In October it is estimated that industry turnover, net of seasonal factors, will record a cyclical increase of 2.8%, resulting from growth in both markets (+ 3.4% for the domestic market and + 1.4% for the abroad). On a trend basis, the raw index marks an increase of 13.2%.

Istat announces it, reporting that the economic growth continues for the fifth consecutive month and in the trend comparison on data corrected for working days, the increase is spread to all the main groups of industries, with more marked increases for energy and capital goods.

On the average for the August-October quarter, the overall index shows an increase of 2.8% compared to the previous three months (+ 4% on the domestic market and + 0.7% on the foreign market). With reference to the main groupings of industries, in October the seasonally adjusted indices of turnover show a cyclical increase for all the main sectors: energy (+ 5.4%), capital goods (+ 3.9%), intermediate goods (+ 2.3%) and consumer goods (+ 1.8%).

Corrected for the calendar effects (the working days were 21 against the 22 of October 2020), the total turnover grows in trend terms by 16.9% (+ 19.4% on the domestic market and + 12.1% on that abroad). As regards the indexes corrected for calendar effects referring to the main groupings of industries, there are very marked trend increases for energy (+ 49%) and intermediate goods (+ 28%), more contained for consumer goods ( + 10.9%) and instrumental ones (+ 4.2%). With reference to the manufacturing sector, the trend increases concern all sectors of economic activity with the exception of the means of transport sector.
