Industry, Italian production + 2.4% in November

Despite the crisis induced by Covid is not over, in Italy the turnover of the industry grew in November, driven by the sales of the energy sector: in the month, according to Istat surveys, it made + 2.4% on October and + 22.2% on November 2020, while the growth in the first 11 months of 2021 was 23.4% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

But beware: the increase in turnover is not only due to the growth in sales volumes but also to that of prices, that is, inflation. If you look only at the volumes, the increase in turnover from month to month while continuing to be there is downsized to 1.7% while the annual one is 10.6%.

By breaking down the monthly Istat figure + 2.4%, a positive trend is observed both on the domestic market (+ 2.2%) and on the foreign market (+ 2.7%).

On an annual basis, + 22.2% recorded a + 81% for the sale of energy, a sector in which the increase in sales volumes was modest while prices have exploded.

Looking at the various sectors of activity of the Italian industry, the one that recorded the strongest increase in annual turnover is the coking coal and refined petroleum products sector (+ 82.4%), while the transport vehicles sector fared the worst of all. (-2.7%). Consistent growth was recorded by Istat in metallurgy (+ 39.8%), in chemicals (+ 37.2%) and in the textile, leather and clothing sector (+ 31.4%); the food industry also did well with + 16.5%.
