The click of the volumes on one side. The price increases on the other. The combination is the new historical record for industry turnover, with the seasonally adjusted index recorded by Istat for the month of July reaching levels never seen since the start of the historical series, therefore since the beginning of 2000.

Compared to the previous month, the step forward is 0.9%, determined in particular by growth on the domestic market (+ 1.7%), while there is a moderate decline on the foreign market (-0.8%).

On the average for the May-July quarter, the overall index grew by 4.4% compared to the previous three months (+ 3.6% on the domestic market and + 5.8% on the foreign market).

However, the evidence of progress is much more visible in the comparison with July 2020: corrected for calendar effects (there were 22 working days against 23 in July 2020), total turnover grew on a trend basis by 19.1%, in absolutely homogeneous terms from the point of view of outlet markets, with almost identical growth both in Italy and abroad.

Growths that are visible for all sectors of the economy, with a peak of almost 40 points for metallurgy, a sector that is more sensitive than others to the increases recorded by the new increases in raw material prices.
