Intesa Sanpaolo breaks the delay and prepares to distribute to shareholders what has been promised in recent months, frozen by Covid. The institute led by Carlo Messina has called an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting for October 14, which will have to authorize an extra 1.9 billion coupon over 2020: on September 30, in fact, the ECB ceiling imposed at the beginning of the pandemic will fall. For shareholders, it is 9.96 cents per ordinary share, paid on 18 October.

By the end of the year, a part of that 70% of the net profit that the institution intends to pay out in cash dividends will be added on the results of 2021. This is another 7.21 euro cents per share, an advance that will be resolved on 3 November on the occasion of the accounts for the third quarter with detachment on the agenda for 22 November. In total, they make another 1.4 billion: in the autumn, 3.3 billion in cash is thus expected for the group’s shareholders.
