Inwit purchased approximately 700 radioelectric systems from Vodafone Italia covering approximately 1000 km of road and motorway tunnels and 40 Distributed Antenna System (DAS) systems in Italy. The acquisition, the company specifies, positions Inwit as a national long-term connectivity player in the road segment. The operation is part of the digitalization process to support smart roads, which will require IoT systems to acquire and transmit information relating to the state of the road infrastructure and for monitoring safety conditions.
The agreement, which takes the form of an acquisition of a business unit, will take place for a consideration of approximately € 70 million, and is consistent with the objectives of the Inwit Business Plan. “It is expected – the group specifies – that the transaction will contribute over time to the development of Inwit’s revenues, following a specific investment plan, for an expected run-rate of over 10 million euros, to be progressively achieved over the next few years “.
The closing of the transaction is expected between the third and fourth quarter of 2021, once the golden powers authorization and the consents of the contractual counterparties have been obtained. At the same time as the closing of the transaction, Inwit and Vodafone Italia will sign a service agreement for the hospitality of Vodafone Italia on the plants included in the perimeter being traded on a multi-tenant basis, and therefore with the prospect of hosting on the same plants also of other operators .
