In November, industrial production returned to growth in economic terms, after the decline of the previous month. According to data released by Istat, in November the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production showed an increase of 1.9% compared to October. On the average for the September-November quarter, the level of production increased by 0.6% compared to the previous quarter.
The monthly seasonally adjusted index recorded cyclical increases in all the main groupings of industries, with positive changes for energy (+ 4.6%), capital goods (+ 2.0%), consumer goods (+1 , 7%) and intermediate goods (+ 0.8%).
Adjusted for calendar effects, in November the overall index increased in trend terms by 6.3% (there were 21 calendar working days as in November 2020). Significant trend increases characterize energy (+ 12.4%) and consumer goods (+ 9.4%); more contained is the growth for intermediate goods (+ 4.3%) and capital goods (+ 3.8%).
