Ita: unions on a war footing for the recruitment of the new Alitalia. Requested “urgent call” to Parliament committees

by admin

On the day of the second meeting between the unions and the representatives of Ita, the company called to take over the Alitalia brand and some of its activities, the clash between the two factions continues. The national secretary of Uilt, Ivan Viglietti, says clearly at the end of the first part of the meeting, this time focused on the employment contract of the employees of the company which for the umpteenth time will be born from the ashes of the former national airline: “The distance between companies and trade unions remains remarkable ». Tomorrow, from 10.00 in the morning, a new meeting will be held between Ita and the unions which should concern the regulatory part of the flight, pilots and assistants.

«Ita – Viglietti goes into more detail – wants to temporarily close the applications to draw a line and proceed with the recruitment for the startup of the company. We ask that the platform remain open because we do not consider it useful to close it and then reopen it given that the issue of staff is evolving ». The trade unionist then confirmed the rumors circulated since the morning, according to which of the approximately 11,500 applications received in total, 10-15% would be attributable to Alitalia workers, especially pilots (30%) and face assistants (20%).

So the trade unions have decided to write to the Transport committees of the Chamber and Senate, asking for an “urgent call” on the Ita-Alitalia dispute, aimed at “continuing the debate in the institutional setting in the presence of all the departments concerned”, as stated in the letter signed by Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl, Uil Trasporti, Ugl Air transport. The workers’ representatives write: “The recent events in relation to the increasingly critical situation of Alitalia in extraordinary administration, the process of the birth of the newco Ita, the definition of the industrial plan of the new national airline, the ongoing discussions with the Union European and more generally in the context of the dramatic crisis in the sector which is the cause of strong concerns on the employment side, require reflections and interventions by the Institutions, which the writers have repeatedly requested, and which can no longer be postponed ».

Therefore, the unions conclude, “also in light of the recent communications in relation to the acquisition by Italia Trasporti Aereo spa of the availability of some assets relating to the Aviation sector of Alitalia Sai in extraordinary administration” and “considering the great social and employment impact of the dispute that concerns about 10,500 direct workers plus related workers, the undersigned trade union organizations are requesting an urgent convocation for the continuation of the debate in the institutional setting in the presence of all the departments concerned “.

Politics also appears on a war footing for litigation. «It is urgent – affirms Stefano Fassina di Leu – the hearing of the ministers Franco, Giorgetti, Giovannini and Orlando in the Transport and Industry Commissions of the Chamber and Senate. The plan for Ita, illustrated by the president Altavilla to the trade unions, is unsustainable both for the further worsening of the conditions of the workers who will be hired, and for the prospects of the company. Ita promises to be a low cost with no future and useless as a national airline. It is crucial to understand whether Minister Giorgetti and Minister Orlando share Altavilla’s announcement of Ita’s departure from Assaereo so as to allow the non-application of the CCNL of the category, despite a provision of the Relaunch Decree provides for its application to all operators present in Italy. How crucial it is – adds Fassina – to know if the government has entrusted the Ita summit with the objective of unleashing a war between desperate for work without any attention to length of service and family burdens. I hope that the presidents of the competent commissions will immediately take up the appeal addressed to them today by the trade unions. The League safeguards its interests in the North, but the M5S and the Democratic Party want to stay and watch? ».

The senator of Forza Italia, Renato Schifani, also spoke on the question: «New unemployed in Palermo, more opportunities in Romania. This is the unacceptable epilogue of the story concerning the Ita call center after the award of the tender by the Covisian company, which took over from the previous management of Almaviva. It is essential to intervene to stop this bleeding of jobs in the south, and in particular in a complex city like Palermo. We await a word of due clarity from the government ».
