Italian wine is worth 14.2 billion euros and this figure places our country in third place in the international ranking, after France (20.7 billion) and the United Kingdom (15.8 billion). The figure emerges from Wine Report, a study carried out by Cross Border Growth Capital, advisor in Italy for extraordinary finance operations for startups and SMEs, and from the online wine shop Vino.com.

The results of the study show that globally it is estimated a wine value of 245.6 billion euros by 2021 and growth to 305.2 billion euros by 2025. The range of sales by e-commerce, on the other hand, goes from ‘11.9% in the United Kingdom (up from 10.1% in 2015) to 1.7% in Spain and Germany, passing through 9.9% in France (almost doubled since 2019, when it stood on 5.5%) and 9.8% of the Netherlands (up from 2.5% in 2015).

Italy is positioned in the middle, registering, as coming from online shops, 4% of sales. Wine Report reports that the world alcoholic beverages market with its five segments (wine, spirits, beer, cider, ready to drink) amounts to 1,317 billion euros in 2021. According to calculations, the trend is driven by beer (42 % of the total world market), followed by spirits (35%) and wine (20%).
