Jeep Compass is renewed and bets on the hybrid

TURIN (ITALPRESS) – The Jeep Compass is renewed, and for the American brand of the Stellantis group it is a crucial moment. An absolute best seller, as the numbers indicate: as many as 200,000 have been sold in Europe since 2017, equal to 40% of the Jeeps sold in the Old Continent, where the brand has grown fivefold in ten years. Style and interior revisions, four trim levels, and more and more space for the 4xe hybrid versions, which already represent 25% of sales. Off road performance is at the top of the segment. As Daniele Calonaci explained, during the online presentation, the style of the new Compass anticipates the lines of the next Jeep models as well. The new version has been designed both for a pragmatic need for mobility and for those who want to face exciting daily “adventures”. This is the essence of the C-SUV segment, today one of the hearts of the world automotive market. The exteriors have been renovated in the name of elegance and modernity. The difference with the previous versions is even more marked in the passenger compartment, enriched with highly technological contents. These include the 10.25 “full HD digital instrument panel, the DAB radio, the Uconnect 5 system with 8.4 to 10.1” touchscreen repositioned in the center of the dashboard in a high position to allow the driver to always keep his eyes on the strada, processor five times faster, Android operating system with wireless integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphones, interactive TomTom navigator with 3D visualization and natural voice recognition, and Uconnect Services. The organization of the space is also new, with a three-level central console where materials and fabrics of various colors can be combined. The capacity of the storage compartments grows three times, now equal to 7.2 liters, compared to 2.8 of the previous version. Also new are the central tunnel, now higher, the steering wheel, the door panels and the finishes. The New Compass is also the first Jeep in Europe to reach level 2 (L2) of autonomous driving, thanks to various standard Adas across the range: Traffic Sign Recognition, which reads and interprets road signs; Intelligent Speed Assist, which automatically keeps the vehicle within the speed limits indicated; the Drowsy Driver Alert, which warns the driver when a moment of drowsiness lowers his level of attention; and the Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist recognition, which slows the vehicle to a stop to avoid (or mitigate) possible accidents. But the most important new feature is Highway Assist, which combines Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering, automatically adjusting speed and trajectory. In this way, the car keeps itself in the center of the lane and at a prudent distance from the vehicle in front for a driving experience in the name of serenity (available in the second half of the year). Compas is offered with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid engines, combined with three gearboxes (six-speed manual, DDCT dual-clutch automatic or six-speed automatic) and front or all-wheel drive. The petrol engine is the 1.3-liter GSE, 130 and 150 hp, the diesel is a 1.6-liter 130 hp, while the plug-in hybrid provides two power levels with 190 and 240 hp, automatic gearbox six-speed and four-wheel drive eAWD. Produced for the Emea market in Melfi, Compass is offered from the S trim level, which offers the maximum refinement and comfort, up to the Trailhawk, the specific version for off-road to which the launch edition dedicated to the Jeep 80th anniversary, in diesel and plug-in hybrid engines at 269 euros per month with 2 years of maintenance and 4 years of warranty included. The price list in Italy starts at 29,850 euros for versions equipped with a 130 HP 1.3 petrol engine in Longitude set-up, up to the top of the range with the Trailhawk and S 4xe versions with plug-in hybrid engines for 49,200 euros. Even the most doubtful will be able to try the new Compass thanks to the long test drive formula, offered in promotion by Leasys, thanks to which you can try the new Jeep for two, three or seven days at 27 euros a day and decide on all serenity if you buy it through rental or financing by choosing from the many offers of FCA Bank. The New Jeep Compass is already available in Italian Jeep showrooms and gives access to the Jeep Wave program for customer loyalty. (ITALPRESS). jp / ads / red 06-Apr-21 13:03
