Juke becomes hybrid: more power and lower consumption

The new Nissan Juke in the Hybrid version, one of the most interesting crossovers in the B-segment SUV, is arriving in dealerships: without affecting the merits of the model with thermal engine, it adds several advantages, first of all a new connectivity and substantial savings in terms of consumption.

From an aesthetic point of view, the differences with the standard version are minimal: a new rear spoiler, new 17 “aerodynamic alloy wheels and a new front grille, equipped with variable inclination hexagons to optimize aerodynamic efficiency or heat dissipation depending on whether the electric or petrol engine is used.

New digital instrumentation, with indications of the intervention and recharging of the electric motor and new especially the connectivity system, aimed at improving navigation, safety and comfort. Its strengths are constant geolocation, which provides data relating to driving style (whether you use it or a family member) and allows you to always know where the vehicle is, as well as compatibility with Google and Amazon voice assistants that allows , for example, to set the navigator’s destination by dictating it to your smartphone.

The Juke Hybrid powertrain is made up of a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine capable of delivering 94 hp and 148 Nm of torque, flanked by an electric motor developed by Nissan, with a power of 49 hp and 205 Nm of torque. The transmission consists of a hybrid gearbox with 2 ratios dedicated to the electric motor and 4 to the thermal one. There is no clutch and synchronizers are also missing, so as to reduce friction and improve energy efficiency. The car always starts in electric mode and in city traffic it can move without using the petrol engine up to 55 km / h: on average more than 80% of the time. When necessary, uphill or accelerating, the internal combustion engine and the electric one work together in parallel to ensure brilliant performance, while at cruising speed a part of the power of the internal combustion engine is used to recharge the batteries. Finally, you can choose to move in 100% electric mode. This innovative combination of heat engine + electric + transmission is one of the fruits of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance: it is in fact the same as the one we find on the latest generation Renault Captur hybrid E-Tech 145 cousin.

Totally Made in Nissan is the e-Pedal solution, which allows you to accelerate and decelerate using a single pedal. The car slows down significantly, but never abruptly, up to 5 km / h: to stop, however, you must act on the brake pedal. It only takes a few minutes to get “footed” with this solution and in city traffic it has proved to be extremely practical.
