Lamborghini announces the first electric: the entire hybrid range by 2024

Hybrid transition by 2024

The plan continues with another twist: in 2023, Lamborghini will launch its first hybrid series model. Not only that: by the end of 2024, the entire range will be hybrid. Nothing will be left to chance.

«Driving a Lamborghini is first of all an emotional experience, which cannot ignore, among other things, the roar of the engine. This promise must be kept. And it will be so. Even if it is a hybrid, the Aventador will always have the 12-cylinder positioned behind the cockpit, ”explains Winkelman, taking the home super sports car as an example.

At this stage of the plan, engineers and technicians will increasingly use lightweight carbon fiber materials to reduce the weight required by electrification. Thanks to these two levers – hybridization and the use of new materials – Lamborghini plans to reduce the C02 emissions of its models in the range by 50% by the beginning of 2025.

The first full electric Lamborghini

The revolution will take place in the second half of the decade, with the arrival of the first full electric Lamborghini. The fourth model announced today – which will flank the range of super sports cars, which in 2025 will be all hybrids as mentioned – will symbolically bring the «Cor Tauri Direction» plan to fruition.

Lamborghini electrification will be accomplished. «Our dream, our vision – explains Winkelmann to Sole 24 Ore – is that in the second part of this decade we will have an electric Lamborghini. We imagine a 2 + 2 a little higher from the ground than our super sports cars: not an Aventador or a Huracan, but a car to be used every day for more than two people ». And what will this electric sound have? “We do not know yet. Studies are in progress. What we do know is that it must not be a duplication of the noise of the heat engine. It must have a particular sound, capable of moving as much as the roar of a V12 ».
