Loans and guarantees for 500 billion: the state is the leading banker in Italy

The Italian state is the leading banker in the country. It is not a slogan, but the reality of aggregate numbers, which in the last four years has seen a significant increase in public financial commitments towards businesses and households. Credit risks now amount to 500 billion euros: both as credit guarantees from private banks (about two thirds of the total and equal to 330 billion), and as loans, for the almost 165 billion that remain.
