The Luxembourg data protection authority has imposed a record fine on Amazon of 746 million euros for violating EU privacy regulations. This was announced by the same company, specifying that it is “strongly in disagreement with the ruling of the Luxembourg Privacy Authority Cnpd” and announces an appeal.
“The decision on how we show relevant advertising to customers is based on subjective and unprecedented interpretations of European privacy legislation and the proposed sanction is completely disproportionate even to this interpretation,” adds Amazon.
