Two weeks of collective layoffs – from February 26 to March 13 – for the approximately seven thousand employees of the Stellantis plant in Melfi (Potenza). At the root, a mix of reasons that require a production stop:
This is what emerged in a meeting this morning between the company management and the RSA. The current “international scenarios – explained the unions – have heavy repercussions on the production situation in Melfi”.
The unions reconstruct this: “The company has clearly shown how international scenarios have heavy repercussions on the production situation of our plant. The shortage of semiconductors persists and the ongoing strike by hauliers has completely blocked the supply of materials. The war in act in Ukraine could also open up further critical issues considering that many suppliers are based in Eastern Europe “.
In light of this situation, the fund has emerged as “the only useful tool today for guaranteeing wage coverage”, without prejudice to the possibility of “working a few days” next week in the event that the situation of the hauliers is unblocked and therefore the ‘supply of components.
