Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: my country’s 5G mobile phone users reach 413 million – Communication Technology – 5G

This morning (14th), Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that in the past ten years, my country has built the world‘s largest network infrastructure with leading technology and strong guarantees, and 5G has achieved global leadership. Xin Guobin introduced that in the past ten years, my country’s network infrastructure has achieved leapfrog improvement, and the world‘s largest and technologically advanced optical fiber broadband and mobile communication network has been built.

All prefecture-level cities have fully built optical network cities, with 93.4% of users with access rates of 100M and above, and users with gigabit access rates exceeding 50 million.

The scale of 4G base stations accounts for more than half of the global total, 1.615 million 5G base stations have been built, and 413 million 5G mobile phone users. The strength of the technology industry has been significantly enhanced. Mobile communication technology has changed from “3G breakthrough” and “4G synchronization” to “5G leadership”, 5G standard essential patents accounted for 38.2%, and the gap between key core technologies such as 5G chips and mobile operating systems and the international advanced level continued to narrow.

Build the world‘s largest and most complete optical communication industry system, and some key technologies such as optical communication equipment, optical module devices, and optical fiber cables have reached the international advanced level. There are 301 unicorn companies in my country’s Internet sector, accounting for 25% of the world‘s total.

Internet applications such as e-commerce, e-government, telecommuting, online education, and live video have been fully popularized, greatly improving the efficiency of social operation. The annual transaction volume of mobile payment has reached 527 trillion yuan, and the new economic form has created more than 20 million flexible jobs.

The new generation of information and communication technology represented by 5G is accelerating the application in many industries such as industrial manufacturing, ports, mining, medical care, education, cultural tourism, etc., with a total of more than 20,000 application cases.
