Monteforte, the artisan who makes bespoke shoes, opens to Amazon USA

Laurea in philosophy, then attending a leather artisan workshop, a decisive experience that led her to a professional choice: to create custom-made shoes, inspired by the personality of the wearer. Determined and motivated, in successfully attending a footwear design school and spending 4 years in Empoli, working in the company and supporting a master craftsman, from whom she learned the trade. When she felt independent and safe, she chose to open her own shop in the historic center of Pesaro, far from the Fermo-Macerata district, which also hosts 95% of the almost 3,600 footwear companies in the Marche region (data from the Marche Chamber of Commerce ).

It is the experience of Olivia Monteforte, Genoese by birth, a husband and two children, a revolutionary in how she transforms her ideas into concrete projects. It is only his hands that make a total of 27 bespoke shoes each year, small jewels for men and women: all unique pieces, which he personally follows from the model to the last finish of the heel. «I leave the know-how to my hands and I rely on technology, so that my work can last over time and be appreciated and understood in a contemporary way», he says of himself.

There is a lot of modernity, in fact, in her being a shoe maker. A few weeks ago, he accepted Amazon USA’s proposal to give customers a personal shopping experience: the customer connects with Pesaro (“he sees me, but not vice versa”, he explains) and Olivia accompanies him inside the atelier and, at the end of the tour, he makes a pair of shoes for him. The exclusive collection for this made to order activity is called Snualo and has been designed “specifically for customerization, from the materials to the soles”.

The approach to digitalization has a double objective for Monteforte. “Being able to tell my world, so that everyone can grasp it according to their own sensitivity” is the personal one. The second is closely linked to quality: «Today there is a lot of confusion around the made in Italy, which also for footwear should represent our business card in the world – she says with conviction -. But I thought that more than a brand it was important to show and tell my products ».

This is how 360 ° Storytelling was born, in partnership with Massimiliano Camillucci, who leads a company in Fano that also deals with virtual reality, and Federico Brocani, who with Marchecraft designs and creates experiential tours and workshops for tourists in the artisan shops in the region. The three had met inside the Warehouse Coworking Factory in Marotta and putting together ideas and skills they created qr code which, once framed with a virtual reality viewer, allows the customer to enter the manufacturing laboratory, meet the craftsman and discover for yourself how «a truly made in Italy product is born from the obsessive attention to detail and the choice of materials».
