Motorcycle market, two-wheelers continue to grow

by admin

The two wheels continue to be in the hearts of the Italians. Whether for passion or necessity, motorcycles and scooters recorded positive numbers in the first ten months of the year if compared to 2019. Despite a narrative made up of gentle mobility, goodbye to private vehicles and extensive use of scooters, “real life” shows the need for people to move quickly and individually to also avoid the risk of contagion from Covid19. All this in a safe way, as it can be when traveling with the correct technical clothing on board a motorcycle or scooter and not on a scooter while traveling along a provincial road. According to what was reported by Confindustria Ancma (National Association of Cycle Motorcycle Accessories), the positive trend of the motorized two-wheeler market continues. After the first setback of the year recorded last month, the registration data of mopeds, scooters and motorcycles for the month of November again describe an overall increase of 16% on a more indicative and appropriate comparison with 2019. Negative, but the comparison with 2020 is less significant (- 2.4%), a year marked by instability and strong rebounds in sales linked to Covid-19 restrictions, especially in November, when a total + 18.73% was recorded, with motorcycles alone at + 40.86%.

Two-wheeler market November 2021

Moving on to the data analysis, the market in November recorded a total of 12,176 vehicles (mopeds + registered), equal to a decrease of 2.4% compared to the same month of 2020. The most significant decline is that of mopeds which, with 1,196 vehicles sold, they lost 17.97%. Scooters are growing (+ 1.4%), which register 6,097 vehicles, while a misstep for motorbikes, which recorded a decline of 2.5%, registering 4,883 vehicles. As anticipated, the comparison with November 2019 shows an overall growth of + 16%. For the president of the Paolo Magri association, “the great interest in two-wheelers that we have registered in recent days with the success of Eicma, the reference exhibition event for the sector, finds a concrete correspondence on the market, both on the demand side of mobility than on that of passion. Despite the uncertainties and global challenges imposed on the sector by the pandemic, we have already reached and exceeded the pre-pandemic registration volumes and the trend does not stop its growth, confirming the central role of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds in post Covid mobility “.
