The second ship of the Seaside Evo class, future flagship of MSC Cruises, currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, has been baptized: it will be called MSC Seascape. The company explains that the choice of the name, made known today during the traditional “coin ceremony”, «wants to pay homage to the beauty of the oceans and the incomparable sea view that the ship’s guests will enjoy, made possible by its innovative design and architectural features ». Godmothers of the ceremony were two historical employees of their respective companies – Monica Somma, Category Manager Retail of MSC Cruises and Jolette Vincenzi, Production Supervisor of Fincantieri – who placed the two coins in the keel of the ship as a traditional gesture of blessing and good omen.

The ceremony was held privately and saw the participation of the Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises Pierfrancesco Vago and the CEO of Fincantieri Giuseppe Bono, as well as members of the shipowner’s and shipyard management and MSC’s project teams. Seascape. The event took place in full compliance with the health regulations in force.

Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises, said: “The coins we place today mark a milestone in the construction of one of our ships and are an important symbol of the trust we place in the cruise industry. MSC Seascape is the fifth ship we have built with Fincantieri, out of a total of eight ships ordered so far from the Italian shipyard for the entire cruise division of the MSC Group, four of which in the luxury segment launched in recent days with the new Explora Journeys brand, which generate a very important impact on the entire Italian economy. When it joins our fleet, MSC Seascape will have a significant economic impact on all ports and destinations it reaches, boosting tourism and supporting the recovery of local communities. Furthermore, MSC Seascape represents the willingness to continue investing in this shipyard and the region and confirms our long-term vision to achieve zero impact cruise operations. Like every new ship we build, we are equipping MSC Seascape with some of the latest environmental technologies and solutions, including emission reduction and state-of-the-art wastewater treatment systems. There will also be a novelty in terms of entertainment for guests and on board there will be an unprecedented and exciting RoboCoaster experience ».

Thus Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri: «The coin ceremony is one of the oldest maritime traditions and also for a shipbuilder it always represents a special moment. With the welding we address a wish to the future passengers and crew, who in this way symbolically board for the first time. I am sure that soon travelers will be able to sail the sea again as before, even on this splendid ship that is taking shape in our shipyard ».
