MILANO – In the update note to the Def that the government will approve tomorrow, GDP growth of 6% for the current year will be indicated with the deficit down to 9.5%. These are the numbers that emerged during the control room gathered this evening at Palazzo Chigi in view of the council of ministers which will meet in the morning. In the Economics and Finance document published in the spring, the executive had indicated growth of 4.5% and a deficit of 11.8%. Among the issues under discussion, also a possible extension of the Superbonus to 2023. According to sources from the executive, a commitment in this sense could be envisaged in the update note, considering the fiscal spaces opened by the trend of public accounts, better than planned.

In particular, between 2022 and 2024 there would be margins for 1 point of GDP per year for new interventions, about 18 billion per year. The Nadef, according to reports, should be very concise, with the new macroeconomic framework. The choices on the measures would instead be deferred to the budget law.

In the cdm also the extension for the single check

Also tomorrow, the extension of the deadline for applying for a single check with retroactivity to the previous months should arrive in the Council of Ministers. This is what government sources confirm, they explain that the rule appears in the context of a decree extending terms on the agenda of the meeting. The deadline for applying for the check retroactively expires on 30 September: the law will set a later date to allow those who have not yet managed to apply to obtain the check from July

Guerra (Mef): “Government action will continue”

Meanwhile, the reassurances of the undersecretary for the economy arrive on the subject of Nadef Maria Cecilia Guerra. Speaking of the update note to Class Cnbc, the undersecretary said that the government “is determined to continue supporting the economy”. In budgetary policies, he explained, there is more space to support the economy, also because “we are neither in the conditions of duty nor of being able to carry out restrictive return policies that would be disastrous”.

Cnel also spoke on the numbers of the Def this morning. “The extent of the deficit reduction is substantial but appears subject to a robust and lasting recovery and the conclusion of the restrictive measures adopted to combat the pandemic. The debt reduction does not yet take into account the revenues deriving from the extraordinary resources of the NGEU” , commented the president Tiziano Treu, anticipating the contents of an opinion of the CNEL on the economic situation that will be brought to the assembly tomorrow, in view of the update note to the DEF 2021.
