The Dacia Spring changes radically to remain on the podium of the best-selling electric cars in Europe. Completely updated in style, following the new stylistic course of the Romanian brand of the Renault group, the second generation of Spring becomes safer, more connected and with bidirectional charging. Offered in three versions, two engines with 45 and 65 horsepower, it promises a range of 220 kilometers and brings a renewed Adas package to the road. Available to order in Italy in the spring, it will arrive at dealerships by the summer. Prices not yet communicated but probably similar to the current price list between 21,450 euros and 23,200 euros.

Dacia Spring 2024, dimensions

How long is the new Dacia Spring? The electric city car stops at 3.70 metres, the ideal size for moving around in city traffic. The attention to handling is underlined by the extremely limited turning radius, equal to only 4.8 meters for making a turn between two walls. Combined exclusively with the five-door bodywork, it aesthetically proposes Dacia’s new stylistic course starting from the Y-shaped light signature and the black bands at the front and rear.

New Dacia Spring autonomy and charging

The new Dacia Spring will arrive in Italian dealerships combined with the Expression and Extreme trim levels, both with a 26.8 kWh battery and a 45 horsepower or 65 hp engine exclusively for the Extreme version. The two-seater Cargo version with N1 approval will also be available, capable of carrying around 360 kg of material inside a load compartment of over 1085 litres. As for the autonomy of the new Dacia Spring, regardless of the engine chosen it will be greater than 220 kilometres. The Romanian compact can be charged in alternating current at up to 7 kW and comes with a 30 kW direct current charger for fast charging from 20 to 80% in 45 minutes. Consumption is low, below 14.6 kWh/100 km, and regenerative braking has been added, which is activated by selecting “B” mode with the new gear shift control.

Dacia Spring, bidirectional charging and regenerative braking

The second generation of Dacia Spring will be usable as a real “power bank” on wheels. The reason is linked to the introduction of the V2L (vehicle-to-load) bidirectional charging function, which allows it to be used as an energy source to recharge an electric scooter, a pedal-assisted bicycle or power devices such as a coffee machine or an electric barbecue. Through a specific adapter, which fits into the car’s charging connector located under the grille, the Spring provides a traditional 220V/16A socket.

New Dacia Spring interior

Climbing aboard the second series of Dacia Spring you are greeted by profoundly renewed interiors, thanks to new materials and technological equipment which includes 7-inch digital instruments in front of the driver and a large screen of up to 10″ in the center of the dashboard from where manage the infotainment system connected and compatible with Apple Car Play and Android auto. New solutions are also arriving to improve life on board, such as the YouClip multi-purpose fastening system, and the load capacity increases by 6% starting from 308 liters and reaching over 1000 litres. The Spring is equipped as standard with 3 YouClip attachment points (one on the dashboard and two on the central console). You can also integrate a bag organizer, a smartphone holder with or without induction charger or an ingenious “3 in 1” device that combines drink holder, bag hook and portable lamp.
