“Our system for the forgery-proof vaccine passport”

by admin

InfoCert, a company of the listed Tinexta group that offers, among other things, digital signature solutions, is preparing for the challenge of the vaccine passport. And, after having signed an agreement with the Lazio Region and having already guaranteed 900 thousand certificates, it is studying other agreements, with other Regions and even with an autonomous province. Waiting, explains the managing director Danilo Cattaneo, for the definitive European standard to arrive in a few weeks. The system developed by the company, he adds in the interview with DigitEconomy.24 (report by Sole 24 Ore Radiocor and the Luiss Business School), is counterfeit-proof since “even changing a single bit, even changing a single character of the document it would be evident its falsity “. InfoCert proposes this model to avoid the counterfeit market, particularly in vogue in Great Britain. In light of the growing demand for digitization by companies and public administrations, InfoCert, which had recorded an 11-12% growth in turnover in 2019, is preparing new acquisitions outside Italy, such as in France and the UK. The goal, explains Cattaneo, “is to follow our largest customers in all European regions”.

How has your business changed after the advent of Covid?

In the early years, our products were sold mainly due to regulatory requirements. Companies came to us because they were obliged to have a Pec or a digital signature. We went through two stages of transformation. One, which began in 2014, in which we moved from the mandatory use of digital trust tools to adoption in the awareness of reaping benefits. We have worked mainly with large companies, large banks, but our systems are also useful for small and medium-sized businesses. With the lockdown in March, a second phase of acceleration began: even the smallest customers have inevitably begun to ask us for services and, once they have experienced their usefulness, they continue to use them today. For them, on the other hand, it was necessary to work immediately remotely and digitally and we did in a few months what would normally have happened in 4-5 years. The process is still ongoing. There has been, for example, an acceleration on the Spid digital identity. In February 2020, digital identities were five million, now they have exceeded 20 million. This is a great opportunity.

From private companies there has therefore been a great demand for digital services, and the PA?

On this front we signed a very important contract four months ago with a large public administration. In June, digital services for all Italian citizens will start with a virtual desk that will offer information, certifications, and satisfy online requests. You can also make transactions or subscribe in installments. On the city side, this will save time, queues, pollution, parking stress; on the PA side, the public employee will be allowed to finally start smart working. On the other hand, the system, of which we could give more details shortly, was chosen by one of the largest public administrations at central level and by all its branches in the area. A change that will certainly also help entrepreneurship given that large multinationals sometimes avoid coming to Italy precisely because the PA of our country is notorious for not being particularly advanced. Thanks to these new services, Italy will have innovative tools that no one in Europe has, except Scandinavia.
