The new Mise surveys on fuel prices at the pump confirm the blow that hit the Italians who moved by car during the summer holidays. The weekly prices of petrol and diesel, with 1.65 euros per liter for green and 1.50 euros for diesel, are the highest since November 2018. Petrol costs today 17.8% more than in the same period of 2020 , while diesel is 16.7% more expensive. According to Codacons’ calculations, this is equivalent to a higher cost of +12.5 euros fully paid for the green (+10.7 euros for diesel) and an increase on an annual basis, only for refueling, equal on average to +300 euros per family.
“The trend of petrol and diesel has produced a real blow to the pockets of the Italians who, during the summer holidays, traveled by car along roads and highways to reach the holiday resorts – explains the president of Codcons, Carlo Rienzi – The effects of the fuel trend, unfortunately, will also be felt in the coming weeks, through an increase in retail prices for a myriad of products, and an increase in electricity and gas tariffs for the autumn period ”.
