MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Pirelli and Enel X announce the launch of a project that will lead to the installation of charging infrastructures for the innovative global business line of the Enel Group for electric cars, in some points of sale of the Driver tire dealer network. The signing of the agreement, on the occasion of the Milan – Monza Motor Show, starts the collaboration that will immediately involve numerous Pirelli workshops in Italy, then it will be the turn of Spain and other European countries with a roadmap to be defined. This project is part of the various activities that Pirelli carries out in the field of sustainability, of which it is the world leader in the Automobiles & Components sector based on the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe indexes and represents a contribution to support the spread of electric cars which today finds its first limit in the lack of capillarity of the charging infrastructure. The collaboration between Pirelli and Enel X is part of a European project for the development of Driver services for e-mobility, a segment in constant growth and to which the Pirelli Driver workshops will devote more and more attention to the offer of services. In fact, in addition to the installation of the charging station, the project also includes a specific training course for the retailer. The charging station at the Pirelli Driver centers will be available in different sizes depending on the characteristics of the area and the traffic volume of the workshop. In particular, Enel X will make available to dealer Drivers chargers between 22 kW and 50 kW of power, capable of recharging even more vehicles at the same time. If the Pirelli Driver workshops consider installing publicly accessible charging infrastructures, these will be visible on the apps of various Mobility Service Providers, such as Enel X’s JuicePass, the easy and intuitive app to use that allows you to search for the most ‘neighbors, book them, pay them and constantly monitor the vehicle’s charging status. To date, Enel X has installed about 13 thousand recharging points in Italy; among these also the new HPC (High Power Charging), chargers with a power of up to 350 KW that allow you to recharge an electric vehicle in about 20 minutes. Anticipating a rapidly growing market, Pirelli has already developed a specific range of tires for electric cars, called Pirelli Elect, “which guarantees low rolling resistance allowing lower energy consumption and a consequent increase in battery life, a limited noise on board, an immediate grip to cope with the typical torque of electric motors and a structure suitable to support the weight of the vehicle, higher than those with a thermal engine due to the presence of the battery pack – reads a note -. The development of products that look to new mobility is also consistent with Pirelli’s sustainability strategy, whose commitment is evidenced by the continuous research and development activity in the field of materials and processes “. “The Eco Safety Design approach of Pirelli’s R&D department, in particular, aims to maximize respect for the environment of new products and safety for people on the road – continues the note -, embracing the entire life cycle of the product since its design.
