The federal executive board of the CDU will conclude its closed meeting in Heidelberg on Saturday. CDU leader Friedrich Merz and General Secretary Carsten Linnemann will inform about the results of the two-day meeting at a press conference at noon (1 p.m.). Topics include the party’s new basic program and the line-up of the CDU before the European elections in June and the state elections in East Germany in September.

To this end, the federal executive board wants to adopt an eight-page declaration on Saturday entitled “Clear course for Germany and Europe”. According to a draft, the traffic light government is to be criticized as “weak, headless, planless and divided”. The CDU therefore wants to abolish the citizens’ money and the heating law introduced by the “traffic light” and “currently” does not want to forego “the nuclear power option”. The cuts in the agricultural sector in the 2024 budget, which caused massive farmer protests, should also be completely reversed.
