Poste Italiane launches the new Postepay Green rechargeable payment card, produced in biodegradable material (composed of 82% of polylactic acid of biological origin) dedicated to boys between 10 and 17 years. In addition to being in the name of sustainability – with the aim of reaching the milestone of 20 million biodegradable papers by 2025 – the new paper, made in collaboration with Visa, offers a series of new functions for parents as well, from “parental control” to “pocket money”. Kids can make purchases and payments independently, physically and digitally (including contactless) and exchange small amounts of money with their friends.

From parental controls to pocket money

Let’s see in detail how it works. The management of the new card is optimized byApp Postepay, which once downloaded on your smartphone allows you to access additional services, such as payments in shops affiliated with “Postepay Code” (just frame the QR code displayed with the smartphone camera), smartphone payments via Google Pay, transfers of “p2p” money from one Postepay card to another or the purchase of a ticket for means of transport. Furthermore, with Postepay Green you can participate in the Discounts program and do e-commerce or in-store purchases. Parents, on the other hand, can use the app to customize the use of the card according to the spending needs of the moment.
With Postepay Green it is possible to send pocket money through the Postepay App or the postepay.it site: parents can choose to set an automatic pocket money to top up their child’s card, for example every week (timed) or every time available balance falls below the chosen threshold (at threshold). Through the service of “parental control”, parents can also monitor their child’s expenses, set withdrawal / spending limits, enable / disable the card for online purchases for individual product categories and for use abroad.

Cost of issuance and commissions for withdrawals

Postepay Green has an issue cost of 5 euros e it can be requested by the parent in any of the 12,800 post offices without the need for the children to be present, you just need to have your identity documents and those of your child with you. The card can be recharged through all the channels available for other Postepay cards: at a post office, at Postamat ATMs, through tobacconists and affiliated points of sale of the PuntoLIS network, or online on the postepay.it website or, again, from the smartphone or tablet thanks to the free Postepay and BancoPosta apps.
The commissions for withdrawals are: 1.00 euro from ATM Postamat and POS Postamat; 1.00 euro from authorized post offices (POS); € 1.75 from authorized bank ATMs, in Italy and Euro countries; € 5.00 for withdrawals in currencies other than the Euro from ATM Visa abroad + 1.10% of the withdrawal amount.
The Maximum credit limit is € 1,000. The limit for each single operation is 500.00 euros (daily: 1,000.00 euros).
