Production of the batteries for the Mercedes EQS, the Star’s anti-Tesla, has started in Hedelfingen

by admin

Mercedes-Benz has started the production of batteries for the Eqs in the Stuttgart-Hedelfingen (Germany) plant in view of the world premiere of the electric sedan scheduled for next April 15.

An important step in the electrification strategy

The EQS will mark the beginning of a new generation of high-performance electric vehicles with a range of over 700km thanks to a highly efficient powertrain and advances in battery energy density. By integrating battery production with existing transmission production, the Hedelfingen plant was transformed into an important component of the German company’s global accumulator production network. The rapid increase in global battery manufacturing capacities and the expansion of component expertise along the entire value chain are key pillars for the Mercedes-Benz Electric strategy.

As per the tradition of the S-Class from which it derives, the car will have the best available to Mercedes in terms of both technology and mechanics.

The car, of which the production version is expected but will be very similar to the concept without camouflage that has been seen for some time, will aim to set new standards in the luxury sedan segment, comparing itself with the leading models of the sector. It must then be said that it will also be offered in the AMG version, as if to remind you that with the battery you can always go fast.
