BioNTech confirms solid trend in the pharma sector
No surprises in the Pharma sector: the quarterly of BioNTech confirms the pharmaceutical trend of the last period. The German company that shares the m-Rna anti Covid -19 vaccine with Pfizer, in fact, recorded total revenues of 5,308.5 million euros for the three months from April to 30 June 2021, compared to 41.7 million euros. for the same period of 2020. For the semester ended 30 June 2021, total revenues are 7,356.9 million euros compared to 69.4 million in the first half of last year. Obviously these data are mainly due to the rapid increase in the supply of COVID-19 vaccine around the world.
BioNTech, therefore, follows the lines of Modern which last August 5 published excellent results obtained also in this case thanks to the sales of 199 million doses of its vaccine against Covid, recording a strong growth in turnover. The stock prices during the past week have risen from $ 353 (last Friday’s close) to the highest posted since the release of $ 443. Same fate for Astrazeneca, which reported an increase in turnover even if accompanied by a decline in net profit, which went from 753 million dollars to the current 550 million.
Pay attention to the numbers of NIO and Li Auto
Leaving the pharmaceuticals, in the coming days, the focus is on the data being published for NIO Inc e Li Auto following the quarterly data released by Tesla which recorded a total turnover of $ 11.958 billion. A growth of 98% compared to the same period last year. Earnings also were $ 1.45 (non-GAAP) and $ 1.02 (GAAP) per share.
The other hot topic about companies producing electric cars comes straight from the Chinese state administration for market regulation which announced on Tuesday, Aug.3 how it intends repress “severely” the price increase by car chip distributors.
The government’s action may have been accelerated by the severe chip shortage that is hurting automotive manufacturing. Sales of Chinese cars began to decline in May after a big jump in April, according to estimates by the Chinese Association of Automobile Manufacturers. In June, auto sales fell 12.4% year-on-year to 2.02 million units. The weakness was attributed to the lack of chips which therefore affected production.
The Chinese government’s effort to mitigate the shortage of car chips could perhaps benefit EV manufacturers more than traditional carmakers.
