Renault, only electric from 2030. De Meo confirms the transition

by admin

Renault will be a 100% electric brand from 2030. The confirmation came from the CEO Luca De Meo, during a press conference, referring only to the European market. The farewell to internal combustion engines is becoming a constant among the main manufacturers, a transition made mandatory by the emission limits important by the European Union.

Renault, goodbye to thermal engines

The announcement of the farewell to thermal engines by Renault from 2030 changes the previous strategy, where the total electrification was foreseen for 90% of the Losanga range. “We have an obligation to participate in the transition to a zero-emission Europe”, commented de Meo, underlining, however, that the transition will only take place under certain conditions. The first will be linked to the presence of an adequate recharging network, capable of responding to the needs of users. The second, on the other hand, focuses on electricity prices, which must remain competitive. If these two conditions are not answered positively, the transition to full electric will suffer delays.

Renault, electric range

Renault’s current electric range extends from the compact Twingo and Zoe to the new Megane E-Tech, as well as the small Twizy and commercial vehicles. To these will be added models inspired by icons of the past, such as the Renault 4 and subsequently the 5 expected in 2023.

Dacia also remains thermal

If Renault aims to say goodbye to pistons and connecting rods by the end of the decade, Dacia will continue to offer thermal models after 2030. Over the next few years the electrification of the Romanian brand will continue to grow, as is the case with the expected future Dacia Bigster. also in hybrid version.
