Rigamonti (bresaola) doubles production and focuses on Italian meats

An industrial plan that leverages the doubling of sales volumes thanks to the construction of a new factory in Valtellina, a diversification policy that reserves more space for made in Italy raw materials to which is added the decision to focus on the offer of cold cuts, product segment showing double-digit growth trend. Finally, the Rigamonti Group, world leader in the production of bresaola, aims to return to growth on foreign markets with the aim of an annual increase in sales of 20% for the next five years.

These are the announcements made by Claudio Palladi, managing director of the Rigamonti Group which aims to increase production with an investment of 35 million over the next three years. Funds that will be used to renovate the Mazzo plant while a new site will be built in Montagna di Valtellina that will replace that of Poggiridenti. The new plant will be green in line with environmental and energy sustainability best practices.

«These investments are the expression of the trust that the parent company, the Brazilian group JBS, places in our project – says Claudio Palladi, managing director of the Rigamenti Group – and express the unequivocal desire to continue to make Valtellina our headquarters. They also represent a driving force for the economy of this valley, bringing positive repercussions on the territory, also in terms of induced activities ».

As regards the offer, in the last year, consumers’ preference for products in trays emerged with a + 15% volume in 2020. Analyzing the various product segments, the + 40% of the bresaola carpaccio stands out, + 15% of black angus bresaola, + 20% of 100% Italian bresaola to finish with + 10% of bresaola from Valtellina Igp. The Group strengthens the supply chains and the chain of organic cured meats, which in the Brianza salumi brand recorded an increase of 20%.

In this scenario, the Brianza Salumi plant will play a key role, which supports the company’s diversification policy. «We will focus more and more on Italian cured meats from the traced and guaranteed supply chain and on organic – anticipates Palladi – which this year has grown by 20%. The goal is to double production volumes over the next 5 years, focusing on high-end cured meats, not just bresaola, 100% Italian, with traced and guaranteed supply chains ».
