Royal Caribbean International delays introduction of Star of the Seas with cancellation of inaugural sailings

Royal Caribbean International has announced a delay in the introduction of its new ship, Star of the Seas, leading to the cancellation of two inaugural sailings. The ship, currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, is the second vessel of the Icon class and was set to enter service on August 31, 2025.

Passengers who were booked on the canceled sailings scheduled for August 17 and 24, 2025, have been informed of the delays and offered options to transfer their reservation to other ships or receive a full monetary refund. Royal Caribbean expressed regret for the impact on vacation plans caused by the delay.

Despite the setback, the Star of the Seas is set to embark on its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral, offering a week-long itinerary to the Western Caribbean. The cruise will include stops at Cozumel and the Mayan Coast in Mexico, Roatán in Honduras, and Royal Caribbean International’s private island in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Passengers eagerly anticipating the launch of the Star of the Seas will have to wait a bit longer, but are encouraged to explore alternative travel options or refund opportunities.
