Saipem has signed an agreement with Naval Energies for the acquisition of the activities in the floating wind energy sector. Naval Energies has over 10 years of experience in offshore floating wind power and has developed a concept of semi-submersible floating wind power among the best on the market. Naval Group announced in early February its intention to halt its offshore renewable energy developments by initiating a process aimed at ceasing Naval Energies’ business, including finding a buyer for all or part of the company’s business. Completion of the operation is subject to the necessary administrative permissions.

“With this acquisition, we are expanding our technology portfolio and positioning Saipem in the tender for the award of the Groix & Belle-Île floating offshore wind project in France,” commented Mauro Piasere, head of Saipem’s Offshore New Energies Business Unit. Financial details have not been detailed but the group has specified that this operation has a completely marginal impact on its financial position.
