Salmonella, Ferrero suspends activities at the plant in Belgium as a precaution

As part of the ongoing investigation into salmonella contamination, Ferrero has decided to suspend production activities at its Arlon, Belgium plant, in collaboration with the food safety authorities.
Ferrero has also decided, with immediate effect, to extend the recall in Italy to the Kinder Sorpresa T6 “Pulcini”, Kinder Sorpresa Maxi 100g – “Smurfs” and “Miraculous” – and Kinder Schoko-Bons references produced in Arlon.
Ferrero also intends to reassure that Kinder GranSorpresa Easter eggs on the Italian market, in all formats and characterizations, are not affected by the recall, because they are produced in Italy in Alba.

«Ferrero recognizes that there have been internal inefficiencies that have created delays in recalls and in sharing information. This had an impact on the speed and effectiveness of the investigations “. This was stated in a note by the confectionery group, commenting on the stop to production at the Arlon plant. “Ferrero deeply regrets what happened – it also reads – This event touches the heart of the principles in which we believe and we will take every necessary action in order to preserve the full confidence of our consumers”.
