Samsung announces $ 205 billion investment plan

by admin

South Korean group Samsung has announced a 240 trillion won investment plan, about $ 205 billion. The plan, explains a press release from the group, will help Samsung strengthen its global position in key industrial sectors such as semiconductors and robotics, driving innovation in new areas. As part of the plan, the group will also look at possible company acquisitions.

In the semiconductor field, Samsung will seek to improve advanced technologies to respond “to long-term demand rather than short-term changes”. It will also seek to expand its biopharmaceutical business through its subsidiaries Samsung Biologics and Samsung Bioepisit. The group will build two new factories in addition to the three currently in operation with the aim of starting vaccine production. About three-quarters of the $ 205 billion Samsung plans to spend will be invested in South Korea and should lead to the creation of 10,000 additional jobs on top of the 30,000 already planned. The investments should also generate another 560,000 hires in the related industries
