For the agriculture of Sardinia, a new breath of fresh air: from Europe 437.5 million euros will arrive for the two-year period 2021-2022. These are resources that will be used for the development of the agricultural sector and rural areas of the island and to enhance sectors ranging from precision agriculture to initiatives aimed at young people. To pave the way for new resources, the extension of the Rural Development Program until 2022 notified to the Regional Department of Agriculture.
“This is an important resource to be allocated to our companies and to the whole rural world – announces the president of the Region Christian Solinas – to facilitate and accompany the relaunch and modernization through huge investments”.
The funds
The PSR Sardinia is assigned a total of 437.5 million euros of public expenditure for the two-year period 2021-2022 for the two-year period 2021-2022, of which 62.2 million of resources from the Next Generation EU. It’s not all. As pointed out by the Region, new funds are also foreseen for the improvement of rural roads, for investments aimed at restoring damage caused by natural disasters and atmospheric events and for the financing of the interventions managed by the Local Action Groups under Measure 19-LEADER .
Investment projects
“In detail – explains the Councilor for Agriculture Gabriella Murgia – the allocation of structural measures for investment projects has been increased by 121.1 million, both in order to provide for new tenders and to allow a scrolling of the rankings relating to the latest calls issued on sub-measures 4.1 and 6.1 (first settlement in simple mode) and to Integrated Supply Chain Projects “.
Agroclimatic measures
The financial envelope for agro-climatic-environmental measures was increased by 206.6 million euros, allowing the confirmation of the allocations relating to the 2021 and 2022 calls. Finally, the allocation for the measure on animal welfare was increased with an allocation equal to to 91.1 million in order to ensure support for the maintenance of animal welfare practices on farms in the years 2021 and 2022.
The detail
With a council decree, the appropriations for the next calls have been established, which will be issued in the coming months by the Department of Agriculture and which concern investments in agricultural companies (12,000,000 euros), Precision Farming (6,227,346 euros), Transformation and marketing (8,000,000 euros), Young Farmers (28,000,000). For the Councilor of Agriculture Gabriella Murgia it is “an important investment of resources that will serve to support agricultural and livestock companies to cope with the difficult recovery phase, to strengthen their ability to compete on the market and to support the necessary generational change in agriculture “.
