For Serie A it is the beginning of a new era. The next three years will be that of Dazn-Tim, a duo to whom Lega Serie A has offered the keys to the top league. This was decided by the assembly of the clubs, at the photo finish (the offers expire on March 29), with 16 votes in favor and 4 against. The offer presented by Dazn was around 840 million euros per season for the exclusive broadcast of 7 matches per matchday and 3 co-exclusive matches. Precisely for these three matches, the Lega Serie A received an offer from Sky Sport of 70 million, expiring on 29 March.
All Serie A on Dazn
For now, however, the victory of Dazn-Tim, in the challenge with Sky, has the traits of all-in. The ten matches scheduled for each championship day per week of the top league will all be broadcast by Dazn (for whose offer he has partnered with Tim). As for the three co-exclusive games per week for which Sky presented its offer (in the hypothesis of victory for Dazn-Tim because the Comcast media company had in any case made an offer to be prevalent on the 750 million Dazn of euros per season) the assembly of the Serie A clubs has decided to proceed to 48 hours of negotiation and to take a decision on Monday 29 March.

On Monday the decision on 3 co-exclusive matches on Sky
According to sources familiar with the negotiations, the assignment of the package to Sky Italia would be close. But there is a theme of the value of the offer considered too low. Precisely this had already led the leaders of the League, and in particular the CEO Luigi De Siervo, to consider the possibility of re-competing the 3 games by offering the possibility of a free-to-air match. A door that seemed wide open in the face of Mediaset, which with the Champions League (17 free games and all the other 104 pay in streaming, except therefore the 16 exclusive Amazon on Wednesdays) has set foot in pay football.
Sky evaluates the appeal
In this context, however, Sky would be considering making an appeal. The reason for the appeal would be linked to what emerged in the Lega Serie A assembly on Tuesday 23 March, where the technical consultant appointed by Via Rosellini to assess the risks and difficulties of internet connection referred continuously, also in writing , to the Dazn offer as the “Dazn-Tim proposal”. This detail would make it clear that, also for the League, the offer is now a joint Tim-Dazn offer and therefore different from the one that was presented during the participation in the tender and in any case conditional on Tim’s technological and financial support. The legal aftermath is a scenario more than ever feared by clubs, due to the impact they could have on bank advances on future Serie A rights bills.
