In the year of the pandemic, the market for solutions for the connected and intelligent car reaches a value of 1.8 billion euros. One third of the market is represented by ADAS systems (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, 600 million euros) integrated in the new models, such as automatic emergency braking or keeping the vehicle in the lane. The main component is constituted by the solutions for the Connected Car, which in 2020 slow down their race stopping at 1.18 billion (-2%), after having grown in double figures both in 2018 (+ 31%) and in 2019 ( + 14%). A trend in line with that recorded in the main Western countries, which oscillates between -5% and + 5%, and very positive if we consider the collapse of the overall car market, which lost 27.9% and scored 535,000. less vehicles sold. On the other hand, the diffusion of connected vehicles is growing: 17.3 million at the end of the year, equal to 45% of the total fleet in circulation in Italy, compared to 16.7 million in 2019. These are some of the trends that emerge from the research of the Connected Car Observatory & Mobility of the School of Management of the Politecnico di Milano, presented today during the online conference “Connected Car & Mobility: how to rewrite the mobility of the future”.
