A commissioner to start and complete ten road works in Sardinia for over a billion euros. The entire game will be managed by the President of the Region Christian Solinas, appointed extraordinary Commissioner for the island’s road system.
The nomination
The communication of the appointment was sent by the Minister of Infrastructure and Mobility Enrico Giovannini, and followed the request for commissioner presented by the Region and deemed necessary for the release of the “ten of the main road works on the island” which are worth more than one billion euros. “The Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility Giovannini – says the President of the Region – has shared with us the need to adopt the commissioner tools required by current legislation in order to accelerate the late construction works, the only way to create safe connections, fast and efficient between territories “.

The interventions to be completed
A necessary decision to start and complete the refurbishment interventions but also the safety of particularly busy roads, present in several parts of the island. Particularly busy routes which, during the tourist season, see the flow of traffic multiply exponentially. Roads that go from Sassari to Olbia (state road 131 (Carlo Felice) where the itinerary is completed and made safe), to 554 from Cagliari. In addition to the safety measures, works for the elimination of level crossings are also contemplated. Other interventions will concern the road that goes from Alghero to Olmedo as well as that for the Fertilia airport. Then you also work on Cagliari Pula (particularly busy during the tourist season), Sant’Antioco, Olbia-Palau and Tertenia-San Priamo.
No additional cost
“In terms of costs, no increase is foreseen for the regional coffers since – adds Solinas -, as requested by us, the commissioner is not entitled to any remuneration or additional emolument from the public finance. Another important signal of attention that we want to give to Sardinia and the Sardinians ».
End works
The assignment will last until the delivery of the interventions carried out. The task of the extraordinary Commissioner will be to supervise the planning, design, assignment and execution of the following infrastructural interventions on the Sardinian road network.
