Stefano Baia Curioni: “New balances between the environment and people and in museums more attention to visitors”

«Swe are called to a rebalancing of our relations with the environment and therefore nutrition must also change ». Stefano Baia Curioni, director of Palazzo Te which hosts the stage in Mantua of the Alphabet of the Future tour, believes it is “a very strong appeal, more felt in young people, but which does not only concern personal health but rather the overall sustainability of life “.

So, is sensitivity also changing towards a more environmentally friendly diet?

«The real complexity is understanding how to put this issue into practice, transforming a principle into choices of consumption, production and distribution. There is a long way to go but it is possible to take a path towards a more natural agriculture that is economically sustainable at the same time. The agricultural and food and wine tradition is a fundamental sector for Mantua ».

How are you addressing the subject at Palazzo Te?
«We have this issue at heart. The culture of personal care is part of what we do, for example with the school of Palazzo Te which has activated a path of relationship with one’s body, harmonization and awareness of movement. We have also dedicated this year to Venus. It seemed important to us to reflect on the harmony between heaven and earth and the body is a fundamental part of this reflection. Next year, however, the main theme will be the art of living and in this case too nutrition will be a central aspect ».

How is this early summer going for the museum?
«Land visits are starting again, last weekend alone we had over 1500 people. We learned, from what happened, the importance of taking care of the relationship with every single visitor. All museums, before, considered people as flows: an indefinite mass that was managed as a mass. The attention of the curators was directed to the works. Today, however, we must pay attention to the relationship with those who enter and this translates into a series of steps to build a bond even before the physical visit. An example? We are trying to engage residents with a monthly card that allows you to access as many times as you want for the cost of a coffee. Inside the building, on the other hand, we are focusing on a more usable path thanks to multimedia tools. More than the numbers, the quality of the relationships will count ».
