Subaru enters the world of zero emissions with the Solterra SUV, which will be marketed next year.
At the moment, the Japanese company announces only that the Solterra is based on the e-Subaru Global Platform architecture, developed jointly with Toyota. Analyzing the global risk of the platforms it is not risky to hypothesize that the platform is what Toyota parts call e-Tnga. The hypothesis is confirmed by the fact that even the Subaru platform is characterized by a few fixed and non-modifiable elements, but variable in terms of length, width and wheelbase as well as being able to accommodate more or less large batteries under the floor and one or two electric engines. In fact, the collaboration between Subaru and Toyota, which has been going on for a long time but which so far has clearly given rise to the Brz sports car in the former and the Gt86 in the latter, in the case of the Solterra involved all the planning of the SUV from design to the strengths of the two brands.
